Enhancing Resilience to Natural Disaster and the Effects of Climate Change (ER):
Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK) started implementing Enhancing Resilience to Natural Disaster and the Effects of Climate Change (ER) Program from November 2010 in Sonatola, Sariakandi & Dhunat upazilla under Bogra district. The program is funded by the Govt. of Bangladesh & United Nations World Food Program (UN-WFP). The prime objective of ER program is to provide services for the Disaster Risk Reduction, preparation of schemes, implementation, participant selection, coordination, handling and distribution of food grains, monitoring of food & cash distribution as per ER guidelines.
a) Build the resilience of households and communities vulnerable to extreme natural hazards and the effects of climate change.
b) Improve food and nutrition security of ultra-poor households in the community.
c) Improve economic resilience in targeted ultra-poor households.
The objective of the Enhancing Resilience (ER) program is to build the resilience of communities vulnerable to extreme natural hazards and the effects of climate change. Activities are being implemented in pre and post disaster phases in areas of recurrent shocks. The pre-disaster phase includes risk identification, mitigation and preparedness; the post-disaster phase includes emergency response, recovery and the restoration of livelihoods.

During this quarter donor visitors (WFP) like ER Programme head, Head of sub office Rangpur, Senior Program Associate, Programme Associate, Project Director (PD), Consultant (LGED Dhaka) & senior management staff visited FFT activities and provided necessary feedback. We accompanied them and provided necessary support. Initiatives were taken to overcome the weakness of the programme activities based on their feedback.
